Patna: Three persons have been arrested for the murder of a 25-year-old student in the Sultanganj area late on Saturday evening.

Police said Harshit Kumar, Anshu Kumar and Rudra Kumar, members of “Banti and Chintu gang” operating in Patna City, were arrested. They added that the criminals had opened fire in the Sultanganj area to terrorise the local residents when one bullet hit Banti, standing near a lane.

Banti was immediately rushed to Patna Medical College and Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Tension broke out in the area after the murder in the busy area while residents were celebrating Id, and several people assembled at the hospital. Senior superintendent of police Manu Maharaaj also rushed there.

A team was constituted to nab the criminals and based on intelligence inputs, the police conducted a raid on Chaudhary Tola in Patna City and arrested the trio.

The police also arrested Ravi Singh and Ajit Kumar, members of “King of Painal” biker gang involved in cases reported in Bihta, Kanauli Bazar and other areas. The gang used to demand money from businessmen in Bihta.

Ajit is a 2015 graduate from an engineering college in Delhi. Maharaaj said: “The arrest of the two bike gang members is a big catch for the police as for past several months, several complaints had been received against them.”
