AAP candidate from Nalanda LS constituency attacked with iron rods

Patna: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Pranav Prakash, who is contesting from the Nalanda Lok Sabha constituency, was brutally beaten up by a group of men in Udarfu region in Bihar on Sunday.

The incident happened when Prakash was campaigning for the upcoming General Elections in Udarfu. Reports said that the AAP leader’s car was stopped by a group of men, who allegedly fired at the vehicle. Prakash was then dragged out of the car and beaten by sticks and iron rods.

The AAP leader has sustained injuries on his legs, arms and head. He is admitted in a local hospital.

Another AAP leader Shazia Ilmi, who is contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Ghaziabad constituency in Uttar Pradesh, was also attacked yesterday while campaigning in Madhya Pradesh.

Stones were thrown at Ilmi when she targeted BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in her election speech in Mandsaur area.

The AAP leader later lodged a police complaint against local BJP workers.

Superintendent of Police (CSP) Pankaj Dixit said that after watching the video-recording of the event and CCTV footage, legal action would be taken in the matter.

AAP’s district convenor Amit Sharma said that anti-social elements of both the BJP and the Congress were involved in the incident.
