1 min read

PATNA: Railway Board member (mechanical) Hemant Kumar on Tuesday said the wheel factory at Bela near Chhapra is set to start production soon. “Despite initial hiccups, the factory is ready to manufacture about 24,000 wheels per year and railways is likely to announce its formal opening soon,” he said.

Talking to mediapersons here on Tuesday, Kumar said the wagons manufactured by Bharat Wagon at Mokama were proving costlier for railways. “There are wagons which are being manufactured at less cost at railway factories. So, railways has decided to give ‘C’ category repair of wagon to Bharat Wagon factory so that it could continue wagon repair work,” he said.

The member (mechanical) said the Harnaut coach maintenance workshop located in Nalanda district of Bihar has been functioning satisfactorily. It would soon attain its full capacity as per planning of the Railway Board.
