Bihar STF arrests reward carrying maoists from Dhanbad, Muzaffarpur

PATNA: A team of Special Task Force (STF) of Bihar police arrested dreaded maoist Vimal Yadav alias Ganesh Yadav, carrying Rs 5 lakh reward declared by Jharkhand government, from Dhanbad in Jharkhand on Sunday.
STF sources said that Vimal’s arrest became possible only after his close associate and another Maoist Anil Ram, who carries Rs 50,000 reward declared by Bihar government, was arrested from a rented accommodation in Shriganeshnagar under Bhagwanpur police station in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar on Saturday.

STF sources said two other associates of Anil were also arrested along with recovery of Rs 8.93 lakh levy from the rented accommodation. On their confession, later Kamlesh Bhagat was arrested from Baruraj in Muzaffarpur from whose possession nine different firearms were seized.

“Anil’s arresting became possible only after couple of STF commandos posing as labourer lived in a rented room at Shriganeshnagar for more than two months to keep an eye on him,” STF sources said.

STF sources said that Vimal was the sub-zonal commander of CPI (Maoist) and was operating in areas of Palamu and neighbouring district including some areas of Bihar while Anil was operating in Muzaffarpur and Vaishali district and was accused in more than 12 cases.

They said that Vimal and his armed associates were involved in several encounter with mainly in Palamu in which several men of the commander were neutralised.

“Anil was also involved in the attack and burning of vehicles at construction site of Gammon India Limited in Muzaffarpur for demand of levy. He and his associates were also involved in collecting extortion from contractors and businessmen in Vaishali district,” STF sources said.
