Patna: The BJP in Bihar will continue its mass contact programme till the end of June.

The programme, launched on May 26, aims to spread awareness about the achievements of four years of the Narendra Modi government. In case of Bihar, the BJP mandarins and apparatchiks are also spreading word about the achievements of the NDA government during this programme.

“The last date has been extended as it has been done at the national-level with an aim to reach out to maximum number of people to spread word about the achievements of our governments at the Centre as well as in the state,” a BJP functionary told The Telegraph on Thursday and added that the contact programme was earlier supposed to be come to an end on June 11.

The party has also set a specific task for its leaders during the extended contact programme and each of them will have to contact at least 25 persons from different segments of the society who play the role of opinion makers. The party leaders have specifically been asked to contact those people who are not members of the party during this contact programme.

The BJP is also keeping a close eye on its organisational strengthening programme ahead of the likely visit of party national president Amit Shah on July 11. Special emphasis is being laid on formation of booth-level committees. At present, the Bihar unit of the party has set up booth-level committees at around 45,000 polling booths of the 62,780 polling booths in the state and the party is aiming to have such committees at over 50,000 booths ahead of the general election.

“Nothing is being left to chance and at present, we are verifying the details of the members who are part of the booth committees that have already been put in place. The cross-checking entails verifying the phone numbers of its members and also their other details,” said a BJP insider.

He said Shah was a very hard taskmaster when it came to things related to organisational functioning and the party was making necessary preparations to provide all the details to him during his Bihar visit.

“The party president will interact with office-bearers of state and district units and also with those of different wings and cell during his Bihar visit. He would have a series of meetings and will collect details and may also cross-check the information provided to him,” said the BJP insider and added that the meetings will start right after the arrival of Shah and was likely to continue till evening when he is expected to return.
