Cabinet approves Rs 506 crore for 131 godowns

Patna: The state cabinet on Wednesday approved a sum of Rs 506.15 crore for the construction of prefabricated structures of 131 godowns under the Warehousing Infrastructure Fund (WIF) loan from Nabard in the current financial year.

Talking to reporters here after the cabinet meeting, principal secretary, cabinet coordination department, Brajesh Mehrotra said the godowns would have a total storage capacity of 5.50 lakh tonnes of foodgrains. The state building construction department has been entrusted the job of constructing these godowns. It is expected that after the construction of these godowns, the problem of storing foodgrains would be minimized.

Under the water supply scheme, the cabinet also approved a proposal of the urban development and housing department to the tune of Rs 333.64 crore for 24 urban bodies and nagar panchayats, including Jehanabad, Biharsharif, Saharsa, Nawada, Araria, Gopalganj and Madhepura.

The cabinet also approved Rs 48.54 crore under the centrally-sponsoredIndira Gandhi Matritwa Sahyog Yojana for aaganwadi centres in Vaishali and Saharsa districts. A sum of Rs 3.98 crore was OK’d for increasing the forest area, its development and security in the current financial year. The cabinet approved the proposal of environment and forest department to allocate advance money from the Bihar Contingency Fund.

It OK’d the proposal of the general administration department to release of Rs 1.70 crore to the ‘Uchcha Jaati Ayog’ under the non-plan expenditure head in the current financial year.
