Cloud over jawan death

Munger: The death of a 48-year-old homeguard, posted at the residence of the Munger collector as a gardener, is shrouded in mystery.

The jawan, Dev Vart Prasad Yadav, hailed from Srinagar village of Begusarai district. The deceased was posted at the residence of the Munger district magistrate for the past six months. Police recovered his decomposed body from the Ganga near the burning ghat at Munger Raj Ghat on June 29.

The police confirmed his identification from his identity card, shirt and the pair of shoes found strewn at the place of recovery. His bicycle is still traceless. The deceased used to return home by bicycle through the incomplete Munger road-bridge from Munger everyday. He was traceless from June 27 evening. He was on duty at the residence of the Munger DM.

“The cops have sent the skeleton of the deceased to DMCH for forensic report. Let the report come. The police have to ascertain whether it is a case of unnatural death or murder,” Rajesh Kumar Yadav, station house officer, Sahebpur Kamal police station, said.
