PATNA: A woman was shot dead inside her residence by unidentified criminals after they barged inside her residence at village Betaura under Beur police station area in Patna around 1.30am on Saturday.
Phulwarisharif SDPO Ramakant Prasad said that police were investigating the matter and it was yet not clear that who killed Sharda Devi (50) and why.
“At least four criminals barged inside her residence when she as fast asleep along with her daughter Simran Kumari (19),” the SDPO said, adding, no other family members were present at the time of incident.
Meanwhile, Beur police station SHO Alok Kumar said that the deceased’s husband Ram Kishore Singh works as a private security guard and was on duty when the incident took place.
“The woman was shot in chest and was rushed to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for treatment, but was declared brought dead,” the SHO said.
He said an empty cartridge and a pair of slippers were recovered from outside the residence and even dog squad was roped in but did not prove much fruitful.
“The family neither had enmity with anyone nor was involved in any land dispute. They were reputed in the village,” he said, adding, an FIR was lodged on the basis of written complaint of Simran with the Beur police station. The body was handed over to family after autopsy.
