Electrification of Ara-Sasaram route

ARA: Railway minister Piyush Goyal laid the foundation stone of the electrification of the 97 km Ara-Sasaram rail route on Sunday.

The plan for the electrification of the route was approved in 2017-18 at an expenditure of Rs 91.29 crore.

The minister also laid the foundation for a foot overbridge at Ara, Kulhariya, Koilwar and Karisath stations. Throwing light on the significance of the project, Goyal said, “The electrification of Ara-Sasaram rail route will not help to minimise the time consumed in travelling from Ara to Sasaram , it will also lessen the distance between Patna and Sasaram.’’

Goyal also announced the stoppage of Kumbh Express (Howrah-Haridwar Express) at Ara station and said it will be an advantage for pilgrims who wish to take a holy dip at the Kumbh.

“Various railway projects worth Rs 40-50,000 crore is being implemented in Bihar. Moreover, students of Bihar will be immensely benefitted as the railway ministry has advertised vacancies for about 1.25 lakh group D and assistant loco pilot posts. The ministry has also announced relaxation in age and fee for the railway job aspirants on the advice of Ara MP RK Singh,” said the railway minister.

Both Goyal and the Ara MP said that soon Ara station will get a new platform with lift and escalator facilities. A washing pit and maintenance facility will be also provided.

The railway minster was accompanied by the Union minster Ashwini Kumar Choubey besides deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi , Sasaram MP Chhedi Paswan , ECR GM LC Trivedi and DRM, Danapur rail division , Ranjan Prakash Thakur
