Ex-servicemen protest over delay in ‘One Rank One Pension’ scheme at Jantar Mantar

1 min read

New Delhi: Thousands of ex-servicemen converged at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi to protest over the delay in implementation of the ‘One Rank, One Pension’ (OROP) scheme on Sunday. The rally was organised by Indian ex-servicemen Movement (IESM) which has earlier threatened that the retired personnel will also go on a hunger strike on June 15. The agitation comes two weeks after Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated his assurance to implement the OROP in his radio programme “Mann Ki Baat”.

OROP has been a long standing demand of ex-servicemen’s associations and relates to payment of uniform pension to defence forces personnel retiring in the same rank with the same length of service, irrespective of their date of retirement.
