Four day India region conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) got underway here this evening for the first time, while its formal inauguration would be held tomorrow, in presence of Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan besides a number of delegates from all states of India and abroad.
The meeting of executive body of CPA held this evening after arrival of Speaker Ms Mahajan and other delegates, while formal inauguraion ceremony would be held in Gyan Bhawan of Ashoka Convention Centre tomorrow. Ms Mahajan will inaugurate the conference while Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has been invited as chief guest on the occasion. Speaker of Bihar Assembly Vijay Kumar Chaudhary and acting Chairman of Bihar Legislative Council Haroon Rashid besides other dignitaries will also remain present at inaugural function.
Plenary session of the conference will be held in Assembly hall on February 18, while valedictory session will be held in afternoon. Delegates from all states of the country would also visit Nalanda, Bodhgaya and Rajgir on February 19.
More than 1,000 delegates would be attending the conference which is being held in Bihar for the first time. Parliamentarians from Britain, Australia, Uganda, Cameroon and other countries have also arrived to attend the conference.
