JD(U) to keep distance from Yoga Day event

PATNA: The JD(U) on Wednesday distanced itself from International Yoga Day celebrations in Bihar on Thursday.

The state health department, headed by BJP functionary Mangal Pandey, has organized a mass yoga session in association with art, culture and youth affairs department at Pataliputra Sports Complex in Patna on Thursday.

Governor Satya Pal Malik, deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi and a number of state and Union ministers, including Ravi Shankar Prasad and Ram Kripal Yadav, will attend the event. But there is no official announcement of JD(U) national president Nitish Kumar’s participation in any event being organized in the state on the occasion.

JD(U) state chief Bashishth Narayan Singh said yoga is also practised indoors and it should not be associated with “someone’s participation”. “People have been doing yoga in their homes as well. Yoga has been a part of India’s culture and PM Modi’s appeal is also appreciable. However, yoga can be done anywhere,” he said.

Kota looks to set yoga Guiness record:

Coaching hub Kota will attempt to set a world record for largest number of people performing yoga aasana at one place at the same on the International Yoga Day on Thursday. Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje and Yoga Guru Ramdev will lead people at RAC ground. “A team of Guinness World Records has reached Kota.It will be a special moment for us when at least two lakh people of Kota will perform yoga,” said Rajasthan health minister Kalicharan Saraf.
