Patna: The Janata Dal (United) will not contest any seat in Bihar by-poll next month, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said on Monday.

The JD-U has decided not to field any candidate in by-polls to the Araria Lok Sabha seat and Jahanabad and Bhabhua assembly seats.

“Our party has decided that we will not participate in the by-poll,” the Chief Minister said.

“It is a state unit decision and every party has a right to take its own decision,” he added.

When asked about Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat’s comment that the Sangh can create an army in three days, Nitish Kumar said: “If any organisation or an individual says that he will fight for the country then it means he is showing enthusiasm for the country,” he said.

On long-pending Ayodhya issue, the Chief Minister, said it was for everyone’s betterment that the issue is resolved out of the court.

Nitish Kumar said he always believed in out of court settlement in connection with the Ayodhya issue.
