RJD President Lalu Prasad today hailed Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari for urging the Muslims to vote for Congress and RJD in the coming elections, and demanded that both the BJP as well as its parent organization RSS should be banned.
“Imam Bukhari has made a patriotic appeal to save the nation. We are seeing divisive forces gaining in the country and his appeal will help counter it. We must unite against the communal forces,” Lalu told reporters.
“BJP and RSS should be banned. They always speak communal language and stoke fire against peace and harmony,” he said.
The RJD chief reiterated that the BJP and RSS were involved in the demolition of Babri Masjid in 1992 and also blamed them for causing riots in various states. The former Bihar chief minister said that he had always spoken against the BJP and RSS.
On Friday, Bukhari had addressed a press conference and appealed to the Muslims to support the Congress, RJD and TMC in order to stop communal forces from grabbing power at the Centre by dividing secular votes. The Imam said that Muslims must vote for RJD in Bihar and Trinamool Congress in West Bengal.
The Congress and the RJD have entered into an alliance in Bihar, while the TMC is fighting alone in West Bengal.
