The strange incident took place under Bairiya Police Station in West Champaran. According to sources, a resident of Kodha Bazaar had lodged a complaint with the police that some unidentified persons had stolen his goat.

“Acting on his complaint, the police had caught the thieves and recovered the goat from nearby Madhurbana in Miyanpur under Bairiya PS. However, when he reached the PS, his goat was nowhere to be seen,” the source said.

He said, “The owner of the goat was told by the police officers that the thief had been let off and they had slaughtered the goat and feasted on it. They even abused the owner and showed him out. He later returned with the Mukhiya, Sarpanch and some other local representatives to request the police to return his goat, but they replied that the goat had been consumed so they could not return it.”

The aggrieved has now decided to approach senior police officials to take action against the erring cops and provide him with adequate compensation for his goat.
