Motihari: Gaunaha police on Wednesday lodged a case against a minor boy for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl at a village in West Champaran.

The police said the crime was committed around 6pm on Tuesday when the girl was returning with grass for livestock at a village in Gaunaha police station in Narkatiaganj subdivision, about 180km northwest of Patna.

“The boy dragged her to a nearby sugarcane field and assaulted her sexually,” said Rakesh Kumar, officer-in-charge of Gaunaha police station. “Prima facie, it looks like a rape case,” he said, adding that things would be clear after her medical examination.

“The girl has been sent for medical examination to Bettiah,” said the officer-in-charge, adding that raids were on to nab the accused. He said the police registered a case under Sections 376 (rape), 120B (criminal conspiracy), 504 (intentional insult), 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.

On July 22, Pipra police had arrested 60-year-old Bishwanath Sah from Chakbara village for allegedly raping a four-year-old girl at a village in East Champaran. A teacher had allegedly raped a Class 5 student at a government primary school in Bhut Tola, Bagaha sub-subdivision, on June 11.
