More than one tonne ganja seized in Patna

PATNA: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in a joint operation with Patna police, seized more than one tonne ganja from a truck near Rajbhatta on NH-30 under River police station area in Patna on Thursday.
NCB sources said the seized ganja is worth around Rs 78 lakh in domestic market.

They said that the gajna was concealed inside the chassis of the truck and was loaded at Agartala in Tripura. He said the consignment was to be dumped at Jethuli in Fatuha.

“Three persons identified as Pradeep Yadav, Biplab Dasgupta and Ashish Rai, who were in the truck, were arrested,” sources said.

They said Yadav and Dasgupta were residents of Tripura while Rai was a resident of Assam.

They said the exact measure of the seized ganja is around 1115 kilograms (1.1 tonne) and was hidden inside the coal loaded inside the truck.

“The consignment in Patna was seized after one person was arrested with 700 kilograms of ganja from a truck under Bena police station area in Nalanda on Wednesday. From this seizure, we got intelligence about the Thursday’s consignment,” he said adding the consignment seized at Nalanda was also loaded at Agartala and was to be dumped in Jethuli.

“The suppliers and receivers in both the consignments were same persons and raids were on to nab them,” NCB sources said adding around three tonne ganja has been seized by them across Bihar till now since January this year.
