Patna DTO booked for forgery

Patna: Patna district transport officer (DTO) Ajay Kumar Thakur has been booked for allegedly allowing transfer of an SUV owned by slain BJP state business cell chief Krishna Sahi to another person on forged documents showing the former alive.

An FIR was lodged against Thakur by slain leader’s widow Shanta Sahi with Gandhi Maidan police station in Patna on Wednesday. Shahi’s body was found from a well at Sendhwaria Manjha under the Phulwaria police station area in Gopalganj on July 19 last year.

Gandhi Maidan SHO Deepak Kumar said Shanta has also named her husband’s former manager Subhash Rai and unknown transport department officials in the FIR. Quoting the FIR, he said the SUV purchased from Patna on February 10, 2012 was transferred in Subhash’s name from Patna transport office allegedly on forged documents.

Shanta told TOI over the phone that the insurance of SUV (BR-01PB-4906) had lapsed on March 31 this year. “When I approached my former insurance agent for its renewal on Monday, I came to know that the SUV’s ownership was transferred in Subhash’s name,” she said.

Shanta said when she visited the district transport office on Tuesday and asked Thakur about it, he ordered his official to bring the file. “There was an affidavit dated May 21, 2018 carrying my slain husband’s forged signature about the transfer of SUV. Thakur said some employee might have done it after taking money and cancelled Subhas’s ownership and issued me an ownership certificate,” she said. Shanta is the mukhiya of Chainpur panchayat and vice-president of mukhiya sangh in Gopalganj.
