Patna: Poland has shown interest in investing in higher education and food processing sectors of Bihar. The European country evinced this interest during the 10th European Economic Congress at the Polish city of Katowice from May 14 to 16.

Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi is taking part in the conference, the news was shared on Wednesday.

Modi said that a special session on Bihar was organised as part of the session on investment opportunities in India in which representatives of 27 European countries participated.

Sushil Modi and senior JDU leader K.C. Tyagi had been specially invited to the session. Addressing participants, Modi spoke at length about the state’s achievements in the agriculture sector and specially mentioned that Bihar was India’s third largest vegetable producing state and had set a record in maize production.

Highlighting opportunities in the state’s food-processing sector, Modi said the state was promoting organic farming in a big way and farmers were being given advance money to carry out farming without any hassles. “Also, the government is setting up cooperatives for the benefits of farmers,” he said.

The deputy chief minister also spoke about steps being taken in the third agricultural roadmap for setting up infrastructure for proper storage and value addition of the agricultural produce.
