Power connection given to every household in 17 districts of Bihar: Nitish Kumar

Image result for nitish kumarPatna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today announced that every household had been given power connection in 17 of 38 districts of the state so far while the connection would be provided to houses of all willing persons by the end of this year.

Mr Kumar, while addressing a function organised here, said that state government had done wonderful job in power sector in Bihar and every household had been given power connection in 17 of 38 districts of the state while rest would be provided power connection by the end of this year.

In 2005, when his government was voted to power in Bihar, the availability of power was only 700 MW and following sustained efforts during the period, the availability of power had increased to 5008 MW by the end of July this year, he added.

Chief Minister said that revenue earning of power department was Rs 8,000 crores in last financial year which reflected the fact that reforms in power sector had begun yielding result.

The losses due to transmission, technical and commercial factor had decreased from 40 per cent to 33 per cent, he said adding that the goal was to bring it to 25 per cent.
