RJD members disrupted proceedings of Bihar Legislative Council in its pre-lunch session for the second consecutive day today against the Supreme Court`s recent order on the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

As soon as deputy chairman Haroon Rashid occupied his chair, RJD member Subodh Rai demanded for acceptance of his adjournment motion on the resentment among Dalits following changes in the act to pave way for discussion on it and said that even the Centre had admitted the mistake on it. He said it was the biggest example of the indifferent attitude of the Centre and the state government towards security of Dalit community.

Mr Rai said the Centre had not strongly pleaded its case in the Supreme Court and therefore such an order was passed by the apex court. He said Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, who hailed from Bihar did not present the government`s side strongly in the court. Mr Rai said the rights entitled to Dalits under schedule 21 of the Constitution had been violated as the government did not present the case strongly in favour of SCs and STs in the apex court.
