5 polytechnic students charged with ragging

PATNA: A case of ragging at New Government Polytechnic, Patliputra, came to light on Thursday. City SP (Central) Shivdeep Lande said he got a call from the Bihar legislative assembly Speaker Uday Narayan Choudhary that a student of the said polytechnic, Amresh Kumar, was ragged by his seniors.

Lande said he swung into action though Patliputra SHO feigned ignorance about the incident. asI, then, myself rushed to the institute to know the truth,a? the SP said and added on reaching the institute, Amresh was found crying. He narrated the episode to the SP and alleged that he was being ragged by one Nitish Kumar and four other students of sixth semester. An FIR was lodged in this connection against Nitish and four others, Lande said, adding they were not found on the institute premises at that time.
