Bihar: Mass cheating in BSc examinations at women’s college

1 min read

Yet another shocking incident of cheating has come to fore in Bihar which has once again raised questions on the education system in the state.

In Bihar’s Samastipur, mass cheating was underway in BSc third year examinations at a college. At the women’s college, nearly 3000 students sat in the hall which was meant for 800.

As per an NDTV report, “They sat packed tightly on the ground, some in the corridors or wherever else they could find space, with the hall unable to accommodate any more people.

Pages torn out of books and even whole books and mobile phones were on display as the students used them liberally to cheat. There were no checks.”

“We are dealing with 3000 students and only have seating capacity for 800. So what can I do except getting them to sit on the ground. On cheating, I have no knowledge but we are trying to manage the situation as best as we can,” Arun Kumar, in charge of the examination centre was quoted as saying in the report.

Earlier also similar incidents have come to fore in the state.

In March, the Patna High Court criticised the Bihar government over the issue of large-scale copying by students in the matriculation examination in the state and instructed it to forthwith stop the use of unfair means.

Many students were barred from writing their exams after they were caught cheating.
