Micromax YU portable photo printer launched at Rs 6,999

After creating a buzz in smartphone market, Micromax’s sub-brand Yu has stepped into printing domain with their first portable photo printer called YuPix. The portable printer is priced at Rs 6,999 and is available on Amazon.in from Monday, September 7, 2015.

Backed by a 750mAh battery, the printer has a resolution of 291dpi and supports 16.7million colours. It has a dimensions of 2.99×6.01×0.94-inches and a net weight of 273gms including the battery and cartridge.
Yu claims that YuPix has an image quality (IQ) score of 175, and it can convert your digitally captured memories into 2.1×3.4-inch printed photos in 60 seconds. The company also claimed that the printer’s image transfer speed is 10 times faster than Bluetooth due to a Wi-Fi/NFC/Wi-Fi Direct enabled connection compatible with both Android and iOS smartphones.

To deliver a seamless printing experience, YuPix comes with a companion application that can be downloaded from Google Play Store. With the application, a user can wirelessly connect their smartphone through Wi-Fi or NFC and print documents directly through their smartphones. The application also allows users to print edited photographs The maximum resolution supported for these edited pictures is 1280x1920p(2.5Mpx)

Interestingly YuPix boasts of a cartridge that does not require a cleaning roll. The portable printer utilizes Dye Sublimation technology and with a printing resolution of 291 dpi, it can print 10 continuous copies, which can be attributed to the cartridge which has Ink Ribbon & Photo Paper Integrated into it apart from being water and finger print proof.
