Bihar will achieve goal of ODF by October 2019
1 min readPatna: Secretary of State Rural Development Department Arvind Kumar Chaudhary today said sustained efforts were being made to achieve the target of Bihar becoming Open Defecation Free (ODF) state by October 2019.
Mr Chaudhary, while addressing a workshop of media persons organised on the issue here, said that need of the hour was to change the mindset of the people to use toilets particularly in rural area.
It was seen that even after construction of toilets in households, people often tempted towards their old habits of defecating in open, he lamented.
“People should be made aware about the advantage of doing away with the habit of open defecation as it would lead to eradication of several diseases”, Mr Chaudhary said adding that media had important role to play in creating public awareness on the issue.
The secretary said, people should remain alert for atleast one year in a particular village even after construction of toilets in all households.
