2 min read

Patna, Sept 16: A student of Patna Women’s College (PWC) on Tuesday, Sept 15 lodged a complaint of sexual harassment against a male teacher of Department of Mass Communication with the college principal.

After getting disappointment over the non-cooperation by the college, some students have started raising their voices through WhatsApp groups.

One of the WhatApp message says, “if you to stand up against any thing, you are forced to stay quiet. The most shocking point is that principal asked for evidence of the incident and when girls gave her a video, of teacher trying to do something with the girl, then rather then taking matter seriously, she wants all girls to be quiet or else she would dismiss them.”

A student of Bachelor of Mass Communication said that “first we met the principal in presence of our HOD, Minnati Chaklanovis. We will continue our fight for justice for the victim and we will continue boycotting the classes to get the inquiry done by the principal and police.”

Previously some of the alumna of the BMC department have also alleged that the teacher used to speak ‘double meaning’ sentences, thus making girls feel uncomfortable.

Meanwhile, the HOD reacted and said that “it’s true that girl has lodged a complaint and the process of inquiry is going on and we have assured the girl for complete action while setting up an inquiry.”

“As inquiry will take time and the Professor has been teaching here since past six years, we have never received such complaints in the past. But the way the message is being circulated, we really feel ashamed now”, she said.

Police team led by SHO Ramesh Prasad Singh is investigating the case and the written letter of complaint filed by girl was also handed over to police for further inquiry.

Students have also launched a campaign on Facebook.
