Constable arrested for killing wife with electric shock in Patna

PATNA: A Bihar police constable was arrested on Saturday in Nalanda for allegedly killing his wife with electric shock.

Police said that the incident took place at village Nakatpur under Biharsharif police station area in the district in the morning after which police were informed soon after family members of the deceased received information about the death.

Nalanda SP Sudhir Kumar Podika said that Upendra Prasad (45) suspected Rajkumari Devi (40) to have an illicit relation due to which he allegedly killed her using electric shocks.

“It might be the other way too that the constable had an illicit relation due to which the woman might had been killed,” he said, adding, the matter was still under investigation and statements of the family members were yet to be recorded.

Meanwhile, Biharsharif police station SHO Keshav Kumar said the woman’s body was recovered from in front of the residence.

“The constable is claiming that his wife died due to current in the hand pump which was connected to a wire for earth,” he said, adding that the body was sent to sadar hospital for post-mortem.

“The constable claimed that each day she used to disconnect the wire before taking bath, but perhaps she forgot to disconnect it on Saturday resulting death,” the SHO said.

He said police were awaiting a written complaint from the family members of the deceased woman to take further action.
