Minister visits ailing child at PMCH

1 min read

Patna: Health minister Mangal Pandey reached Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) on Saturday to enquire about the health of Shanna, who was rescued from a 45m-deep borewell after a 30-hour ordeal on Wednesday.

She was first rushed to Munger sadar hospital. The sadar hospital later referred her to PMCH after providing the initial treatment.

Pandey instructed the paediatrics department doctors to take care of Shanna. He seemed satisfied with doctors attending to the child in the ICU. The head of the paediatrics department of PMCH, Dr A.K. Jaiswal, said he had restricted the entry of visitors in the ICU where Shanna was admitted but allowed the minister to meet Shanna because he was worried about her.

“Shanna was brought to PMCH around 11.30am on Friday. Since then, the ICU is mostly crowded not only by general patients who wants to have a look of the feisty girl as she defied death but doctors and other staff of the hospital also seem equally excited. Today, I issued instructions that apart from the patient’s kin and doctors attending to Shanna, no one else should be allowed. The health minister had shown interest in meeting her as he was concerned about the patient’s health, so we allowed him to meet her,” said Jaiswal.
