Tejas taunts Modi over benami jab
2 min readPatna: Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Saturday slammed deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi over his allegation that the RJD leader owned another shell company along with his family members.
Tejashwi countered Modi soon after the BJP leader interacted with the media at the party office.
“Sushil Modi called his own brother a faraway relative, no wonder he is a big fraud. A person who calls his own brother a relative, one can understand how big a fraud he is. Despite that if anyone believes what he says is right, then he is gulping poison. The entire family of Sushil Modi owns billions in black money,” Tejashwi, a former deputy chief minister, alleged without furnishing any evidence.
Modi had earlier addressed the media over the income tax department attaching benami property near the Patna airport worth over Rs 3 crore allegedly belonging to RJD chief Lalu Prasad and his family members, including Tejashwi.
The young RJD leader asked for an explanation from Modi on how a small businessman’s family running a clothing store can allegedly become a billionaire. The younger son of the RJD chief also alleged that Modi’s brother owns crores worth of properties.
“Can he explain how his brother Raj Kumar Modi’s real estate business touched the figure of Rs 10,000 crore only after Sushil Modi became the deputy chief minister? Can he explain how he helped his sister Rekha Modi to mismanage the money in Srijan scam? Who is Lalit Kumar Chhawchharia who is helping his family in the money laundering,” Tejashwi asked, wondering why Modi did not order a probe in the Srijan scam when he was serving as the deputy chief minister in his previous stint.
Tejashwi challenged Modi to an open debate over the issue and asked him to decide the date and time. He taunted Modi by saying that since the government and police and all the investigating agencies are under his watch, he should crack down on the Lalu family instead of holding news conferences to make allegations.
“His party is in government both at the Centre and in the state, who has stopped him? Why is he forced to come before the media? I am not afraid of your investigative agencies, you do whatever you want to do, but the people of Bihar have understood that you have cheated the people’s mandate,” Tejashwi said.
He claimed that Modi is insecure of his position in government. “Sushil Modi’s chair is shaking now and that’s why he has returned to the same topic: crying over the naami and benami property of Laluji’s family,” Tejashwi said.
