Thugs of Trichy arrested in Patna
2 min readPATNA: Patna police on Friday arrested four thugs from Trichy in Tamil Nadu who were involved in looting money from people in the state capital for last several weeks.
Police said that the thugs identified as Venkatesh Varan, Satya, Ganesh and Bandi Mutthukumar and were natives of different localities of Trichy in Tamil Nadu.
Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj said that these thugs used to throw several currencies of Rs 10 around their victim to cause distraction for few seconds and then other gang members steal valuables and bags containing cash from them in blink on an eye. He said police have CCTV footages of the arrested thugs while committing crime.
He said that a team of Bhopal police would reach Patna soon as they the gang was involved in several theft incident conducted on similar modus operandi. He said they were in touch of Rajasthan police too.
He said that the gang was involved in of loot of at least Rs 19 lakh from an SUV under Shrikrishnapuri police station area a fortnight back.
“They had spread money in similar way in front of the vehicle after which one of the gang members took out the bag containing cash from inside vehicle. They had also stolen a bag from another person in Pirbahore area few days back. On April 3, they stole a bag contain Rs 5 lakh and a pistol from a SUV near Buddha Marg,” the SSP said adding at least 20 other members of the gang had entered Bihar which got divided into three teams.
He said that gang has also a pool of people who help them in seeking bail and other legal matters after getting arrested.
“Police had a harrowing time while interrogating them. A scholar from Gaya knowing Tamil was roped in to help police in interrogation,” he said.
Meanwhile, police sources said the gang committed several crime in Allahabad from where it shifted to Bhopal before finally entering Bihar. “Soon after theft or loot, they pass the bags containing valuables to one gang member who takes to Patna junction and hands it over to associates who sleep there posing as passengers,” they added.
