Vigilance bureau arrests 2 for accepting bribe
1 min readPATNA: The Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) officials on Thursday arrested a cooperative officer and an assistant for accepting bribes of Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 50,000 respectively in Aurangabad district, a vigilance release said.
The VIB officials arrested the Aurangabad District Cooperative Officer (DCO) and general manager of Integrated Cooperative Development Project (ICDP), and an office assistant of ICDP, it said.
The DCO was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe for clearing a payment for construction of a rice mill in Ankorha panchayat to the complainant, the release said.
It also said that the ICDP office assistant was also arrested for the the same reason.
One Sujit Kumar, a resident of Ankorha village under the jurisdiction of Daudnagar police station of the district and also the chairman of Vyapar Mandal, Daudnagar, had lodged a complaint with the vigilance bureau that the DCO and the office assistant, both with ICDP, were demanding bribes of Rs 1,50,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively for clearing the payment for construction of a rice mill to be set up at an estimated cost of Rs 22.15 lakh in Ankorha, the release said.
The vigilance officials found that the complaint was true, the release said.
A vigilance team then both of them red-handed, it added.
