1 min read

Patna: Patna Medical College principal Dr Vijay Kumar Gupta on Saturday said the college fill up ditches on the playground and install floodlights.

“The college administration is now going to maintain the playground. All the ditches would be filled up and the ground properly levelled. We will install floodlights to help students play games even at night or whenever they want to. The other necessities of sports-related activities would also be taken care of,” said Gupta, while speaking at the prize distribution ceremony of Athlon, an athletics event organised by the athletic society of the college as part of its 93rd foundation day celebrations.

Former surgery department head Dr U.C. Isser, who was the chief guest on the occasion, urged medicos to play sports throughout the year and not only during the college foundation day. “Sports can keep you fit. It ensures both physical fitness and mental fitness,” said Isser during his speech. “You engage in sporting activities only during college foundation day. Rather, you should play sports round the year and take part in sport-related events organised by other city-based colleges.”

“In the intra-college cricket tournament, the 2015 batch received the winner’s trophy, in football, the 2014 batch won the trophy. In inter-college cricket tournament, Patna Science College won the winner’s trophy,” said Manish Kumar, the secretary of the athletics society of Patna Medical College.
