Postgrad classes at Patliputra University

Patna: The newly carved Patliputra University has decided to start post-graduate departments at the university level .

The Patliputra University which was carved out bifurcating Magadh University, most of the postgraduate departments have gone with Magadh University with Patliputra University left with no postgraduate departments.

The postgraduate departments will be launched in all three streams, science, arts and commerce. In science the PG departments will be in mathematics, physics, botany, zoology and chemistry, while the department in commerce will be MCom. In arts, the departments will be in Hindi, English, history, economics, political science and psychology. The postgraduate departments’ functioning will be different than PG departments being run by respective colleges. The Patliputra University will launch the postgraduate departments from the next session from July/August.

Patliputra University pro-vice-chancellor Girish Chandra Choudhary of Patliputra University said: “The university administration is planning to start postgraduate departments at the university level. The university has decided to launch PG courses at varsity level as with bifurcation of Magadh University, most PG departments have shifted with MU.”

Sources said that in all PG departments there will 30 seats each while admission in the courses will be carried out by mark basis.
