BSEB outlines Plus II entry process

Patna: Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) chairman Anand Kishor has outlined the admission process of students in various government and government-recognised Plus II institutions in Bihar through Online Facilitation System for Students (OFSS) for 2018-20.

In a letter to district education officers and principals of schools and institutes, he said OFSS was being introduced to save students from running from one institute to another and purchase the prospectus and forms. It will save students’ time and money and institutes will not have to publish forms and prospectus and use manpower for admission.

Kishor said applications for admission in colleges and schools have been taken from students and the last date for filling up applications was July 31. He said admissions of students will be taken on the basis of marks obtained in Class X exams, provisions of reservation and the option given by students on the institute he/she wants to be admitted.

He said for those institutes who want to continue their Plus II studies in the same institute as their Class X exams, they can do so even though their names do not figure in the list of candidates for that institute.

Kishore said the first selection list will be issued soon in which the cut-off marks for every college and school having Plus II courses will be given. It can be seen on www.ofssbinhar.in.

The intimation letter for students will also be issued on the website and the students are expected to download it and contact the principal of the institute concerned. “If any candidate does not take admission, his name will be struck off from the merit list for the current session,” he said. He advised the students to take admission even if they had not made it to the list of the of their preferred institute and wait for the second and third lists as there was a slide-up process in which the student may find his name in the preferred list.

Kishor said it was mandatory for institutes to take admission of students who were in the list of selected candidates. He said students who want to switch institutions after their names appear in their preferred institute in the second and third lists will not have to give admission fee the second time.

He added that students have been asked to put their mobile numbers in the common application form. Principals have been asked to use the helpline (0612 2230009) if they have any difficulty getting information from the portal. All district education officers have been asked to ensue a hassle-free admission for students after the first list is issued.
