Two killed, six injured in Bhagalpur accident

BHAGALPUR: Two persons died and six others suffered serious injuries in a head-on-collision between an auto rickshaw and a truck on the state highway-58 at Kadwa locality near the borders of Madhepura and Naugachhia sub-divisions of Bhagalpur district, on Thursday night.

According to police sources, the three-wheeler carrying passengers was on the way to Naugachhia Bazar when a truck coming from the opposite direction hit the speeding vehicle, killing two persons on the spot and injuring six others. The injured were admitted to the Naugachhia sub-divisional hospital.

The deceased persons have been identified as Basant Sah (50) of Kursela (Katihar) and Subodh Singh (45) of Mohanpur (Purnia), while the injured persons are Amit Kumar (Madhepura), Ranjit Kumar (Rangra, Naugachhia), Shabnam Devi (Mohanpur, Purnia), Dilkush Kumar (Rangra, Naugachhia) and Ajay Rai (Rupauli, Purnia). One Vishnu Kumar of Chausa (Madhepura) was also injured when the same truck hit a car while speeding away after colliding with the auto rickshaw.

Naugachhia SDPO Dilip Kumar said the bodies had been sent for the postmortem, whereas the injured were referred to JLNMCH at Bhagalpur from Naugachhia sub-divisional hospital, for further treatment. Chausa CO Rakesh Kumar Singh and SHO Kishore Kumar also rushed to the spot and coordinated the rescue operation.
