Nalanda: Ever saw policemen in uniform rejoicing and dancing on streets? If your answer is no then this video will certainly leave you dazed.

In possibly never before seen act captured in a video in Nalanda district, almost a dozen of Bihar policemen were seen dancing and carrying out a procession on city streets. This event is an annual event in Bihar called “Langot Fair”, wherein policemen and administration officials dance, take out procession to mark Baba Maniram’s death anniversary.

Sources say that Baba Maniram, a famous seer who fought against communalism, had died on full moon night in the month of Aashaada, a month in Hindu calendar that corresponds to June/July in the Christian calendar. So as a mark of respect to the seer, a langot (loin cloth) is presented at his cremation place for seven days beginning from the full moon day of the month.

“They are not celebrating any wedding anniversary. It’s Langota procession, which police and administration officials take out every year,” Palka Sahni, Nalanda DM, told ENI.

“They take out procession to Baba Maniram’s samadhi every year,” said Siddharth Mohan Jain, Superintendent of Police, Nalanda.

The fair is observed to pay tributes to the seer.
