Patna: This Valentine’s Day could be cloudy.

“Patna and some other parts of the state may witness partly cloudy condition on February 13 and 14 but chances of rainfall are not there,” an official with the Patna Met office said on Sunday. He, however, added that a little rainfall might occur at isolated places on February 13 and 14.

The official said it was likely to happen because of a western disturbance, which was at present located over Pakistan and was likely to head towards India in the coming week.

Western disturbance is a low-pressure area or extra-tropical storm that originates in the Mediterranean Sea area enters India through Pakistan and Afghanistan. It causes winter rains in several parts of northwestern India and its impact is sometimes felt right up to Bihar and areas falling east of the state.

Bihar has not received rainfall because of western disturbance so far this year. The state did witness cloudy conditions on some days because of this weather phenomenon.

“Cloudy or partly cloudy condition is created once the western disturbance passes from the areas adjoining Bihar and the expected partly cloudy condition too would take place because of this reason,” said the Met official. As far as the temperature levels are concerned, the Met official said it was likely to hover at around the normal level or a bit above the normal with the possibility of little fluctuations.

“The temperature level may fluctuate one or two degrees Celsius during the coming week,” said the Met official. The normal maximum temperature for Patna in the coming week is around 25 degrees Celsius whereas the corresponding level for the minimum is around 12 degrees Celsius.

Patna would also witness westerly winds during the period, which is expected to blow between 5k and 8km per hour.
