B Ed colleges a business in Bihar, education mafia ganging up against me: Governor

2 min read

Governor Satya Pal Malik on Thursday commented that opening of private colleges providing Bachelor of Education (B Ed) degree has become a thriving business in the state.

He said that the politicians are involved in the opening of B Ed colleges and there would be hardly any politician in the state who does not own such a college.

Malik was speaking at the Yuva Mahotsav event at the AN College in Patna.

The B Ed education in the state has become a business and there would be hardly any politician left out who does not own such a college, Satya Pal Malik, Governor, said.

Expressing his strong displeasure over flourishing B Ed colleges in the state, he said that such colleges were not only taking admissions illegally and charging exorbitant fees for this but also roped in faculty from neighbouring colleges to satisfy the inspection team which comes to check the facilities at the college from time to time.

These colleges do not take permission from the Raj Bhawan or the state government before opening admissions in large numbers. Once they open admissions for students, they ask the government to conduct examination for them. If the government does not conduct exams, it will destroy the future of students. Very recently we had to conduct exams of students who were admitted illegally, said the Governor.

Malik sought the assistance of people involved in the education sector to clean up the rot relating to B Ed courses in Bihar.

He also informed that his clean-up operation had miffed the education mafia and they have started to gang up against him.

Education mafia involved in this business has vested interests and they are a powerful lobby. They are ganging up against me but I am not afraid as I have the mandate of President and PM to work honestly. I will work in accordance to the law, said Satya Pal Malik.

He announced that from August onwards there will be centralised exam system for admissions in private B Ed colleges and all admissions will be done on merit.
