Patna: The BJP in Bihar set pace for the 2019 general elections when party mandarins on Monday took the pain to explain the issues which party office-bearers and workers are supposed to take to the people.
The party seniors gave a clear message that people need to be made aware of the achievements of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre and the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar during their outreach endeavours.
Addressing a meeting of party office-bearers as well as those of different morchas (wings), BJP state in-charge and national general secretary Bhupender Yadav elaborated the achievements of the Narendra Modi government and of Nitish and urged party leaders and workers to take the achievements among the people.
After speaking on the benefits of moves such as opening Jan Dhan accounts, Aadhaar and demonetisation, claiming these were meant for the benefit of the poor, Bhupender took pains to speak about the benefits of prohibition, a brainchild of Nitish, and said it had led to increase in consumption of milk and milk products and has brought down the crime graph.
“The Congress opposed our pro-poor moves at the Centre and the RJD is opposing prohibition in Bihar,” said Bhupender.
He also spoke on how women empowerment had been scripted in Bihar by the NDA government and the number of women self-help groups had gone up from 513 in 2005 to 6.57 lakh in 2017.
He then asked the party functionaries: “The NDA is working strongly in Bihar under the leadership of Nitish Kumar and all of you should ensure victory of the NDA candidates irrespective of their party in the coming elections.”
Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi said: “You have so many things to tell about the achievements of the Narendra Modi and the Nitish Kumar governments but what do the Congress and the RJD people have to tell?”
