Bhagalpur: A brick-kiln owner on Monday filed a complaint against RJD MLA Ramvilash Paswan. Binod Kumar Yadav said Paswan and his men stopped Binod’s truck on May 26, demanded Rs 50,000, and seized the vehicle papers. The MLA denied the charge.

Binod alleged that when the driver failed to pay up, Paswan took all documents from the truck, and two other trucks, and deposited it with Rashulpur police. His associates later sought Rs 25,000 from each truck for release of the documents. “We complained to the police but nobody listened to us,” the complaint said.

Paswan denied the charges. “On the night of May 26, I was returning to Kahalgaon from Channo. On the way the trucks did not give me right of passage. Somehow, my driver managed to overtake the truck and we found the trucks were loaded with coal,” the MLA said. “The Kahalgaon sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) was informed. On the SDPO’s instructions, the SHO of Rasulpur police station seized the trucks. I had nothing to do with,” he clarified.

Kahalgaon SDPO Dilnawaz Ahmad was busy in a meeting at the office of SSP, Bhagalpur. Rashulpur police station sources said when the truck drivers were asked to show their documents, no documents were produced. So the trucks were detained.

After listening to both sides, Bhagalpur CJM Mahesh Prasad Singh kept the case records reserved for further proceedings.
