Five-year-old dies after being rescued from borewell

The victim, identified as Babita, fell into the borewell in Mitramandal colony while she was playing with other children, they said.

A five-year-old girl died on Sunday after being rescued from a 15-foot borewell at Anisabad area of Patna.  The girl, identified as Babita, fell into the open borewell in a field in the morning while playing with her friends, officials said.

It took five hours for the State Disaster Response Force to rescue her. But Babita died on reaching hospital, sources said.

State Disaster Response Force Deputy Commandant A K Jha, who supervised the rescue operation, said the girl had developed breathing problems because of remaining enmeshed in mud for a long time.
