Patna: A Bihar man stabbed his wife’s alleged rapist to death and then surrendered to the police soon after committing the crime.
The incident took place in a village in northern Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district on Friday morning, the police said on Saturday.
The husband told the police that the alleged rapist had his sights on his wife for a long time and raped her while she was alone in her home on Thursday night. The husband was away when the incident took place.
“My wife told me over phone in the morning that somebody was out to rob her modesty. I immediately caught a train and rushed to my home but the moment I entered my house, my wife told me she had been raped last night (Thursday),” the husband told the police.
According to the report, soon after his wife explained what had happened, he stabbed the alleged rapist to death in a fit of rage.
The husband said he was shocked to see the rapist roaming freely in the area while the local village council tried to hush up the crime.
The police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
“We are investigating the case [even] though the murder accused has himself surrendered before the police,” the station house officer of Bochaha police station Anirudh Prasad told the media on Saturday.
