Patna: A good number of women and girls appeared for the Bihar Police sub-inspector (SI) examination conducted by the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission at more than 60 centres in Patna.

Since there is 35 percent reservation for women for 1,717 posts of SI, a large number of women and girls, including married candidates, appeared for the test. Nibha Kumari, a candidate who had come to appear for the test at Miller School, said: “Days are gone when the police and armed forces were men’s forte. Several women are joining the defense and the police forces, so, we too appeared for the test today.”

She thanked chief minister Nitish Kumar for providing 35 percent reservation to women in the forces from the rank of constables to deputy superintendent of police.

Another candidate Surbhi Sharma said: “Since the government is conducting the SI examination after three years, many candidates, especially girls, have a good chance of clearing it.”
