Patna women rush to book Nirbheek revolver

Patna: There is a massive rush among the women in Bihar’s capital Patna to own a Nirbheek, a new revolver designed specifically for women by the Indian Ordnance Factory in Kanpur.

Till now 400 women in Patna have applied for Nirbheek, which has been named after the December 16, 2012 Delhi gangrape victim ‘Nirbhaya’.

The revolver is light weight tipping the scales at just 500 grams. It is made of titanium alloy. The barrel of the revolver has been built to work for at least 500 rounds of firing. It has been priced at Rs 1.22 lakh.

The gun can be booked online, too, from February 2014.
