Najma blames UPA for lopsided development

1 min read

Najma Heptulla BJPPatna: Former deputy chairperson of Rajya Sabha Najma Heptulla on Sunday lashed out at the Congress-led UPA government for ‘lopsided development’ of the country and reiterated the BJP’s agenda for minorities’ development.

Talking on the sidelines of an interactive conference with the Muslim intellectuals, organized by ‘Forum for Good Governance’, Heptulla said anything less than gross inclusive development of the Indian state was unacceptable. She said the central government failed in providing ‘good governance’ and blamed it for the poor condition of minority population in India. She, however, did not plead the gathering to vote in favour of her party.

Convener of the forum, D N Jha, said as the process for the parliamentary elections had already begun and several positive and negative issues were cropping up, it was the duty of the intellectuals to ensure that the election campaigns of the political parties remained focused on real issues rather than being diverted to hypothetical ones. He said the objective of the conference was to know the actual difficulties facing the minority population and redressal of their grievances.

General secretary of Bihar State Momin Conference Mohammad Arif Ansari, however, felt that the conference strayed away from its objective. Ansari said he came to know the BJP’s perspective on the issues facing the minority population, especially the youth and the reservation policy, but she did not give any categorical answer to his questions.
