nitish-kumarPeeved at Nitish Kumar directing a police official to submit a report on the death of a gangrape victim in Madhyamgram, a West Bengal minister on Friday dubbed it as interference by the Bihar Chief Minister in the state’s jurisdiction.

“Such an interference in law and order issue in another state is beyond jurisdiction and against federal structure in the country,” Urban Development minister Firhad Hakim said in Kolkata.

Hakim alleged that the Bihar chief minister’s move was for instigation before the general elections. “We condemn this ” Hakim said.

Kumar had said on Thursday directed IGP Special Branch G S Gangwar to meet police officers in Kolkata to find out details of the case and submit a report to the Bihar government.

Condemning the incident, he had also announced Rs one lakh for the family of the girl and promised to rehabilitate them in Bihar if they chose to do so.

The 16 year-old victim, the daughter of a taxi driver, was gang-raped in October last year and again when she was returning after lodging a police complaint.

She died in hospital three days ago due to burn injuries after she was allegedly set ablaze.
