260 rice mills with drier to be established in Bihar

Patna: Bihar government has decided to establish 260 rice mills with drier to tide over the difficulties being faced in procurement of paddy due to moisture.

Principal Secretary of state cabinet department Arun Kumar Singh told media persons here that a decision to this effect was taken in cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar this evening.

All 260 rice mills with drier would be established through Primary Agriculture Credit Society (PACS) as per programme envisaged under Agriculture Road Map, he added.

“All PACS and marketing boards in the state would be given 50 per cent grant from the state government for establishing each rice mill while Rs 77.45 lakhs would be given as capital for the purpose”, Mr Singh said, adding that the scheme of setting up rice mills would rolled out under Agriculture Road Map with 60 per cent financial assistance from the Central government.
