ABVP opposes liquor godown near school
1 min readThe ABVP today strongly opposed the East Singhbhum district administration’s proposal to open a liquor godown in the premises of Krishi Bazar Samity in Parsudih and demanded abrogation of an agreement signed with the Jharkhand State Beverage Corporation in this regard.
Amitabh Senapati, National Executive Committee member of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), said the Krishi Bazar Samity was meant for storage of agricultural products as per section 5(2) of Bihar Agricultural Product Act, 1960 and the proposed opening of a liquor godown was in violation of it.
Suggesting for an alternative location for the godown, Senapati said the godown would have an adverse impact on the students who were studying in Shyama Prasad Mukherjee School and College situated barely 200 metres away.
He said opening, storage or selling of cigarette, gutka, liquor etc within 200 metres of educational institution was a criminal offence and an instruction was recently issued by the district administration regarding it.
