Alliance in Bihar formidable, not easy for BJP, says H D Deve Gowda2 min read
BENGALURU: Former Prime Minister and JDS chief H D Deve Gowda today said “secular” parties had formed a “formidable” alliance in Bihar and it would not be an easy task for the BJP to win the Assembly polls there.
“The secular parties which have come together in Bihar are a formidable alliance. It is a tough task for the BJP (to win Bihar assembly elections),” he told reporters at a meet the press organised by Bangalore Reporters Guild and the Press Club of Bangalore here.
Asked about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rule, Gowda said people are getting disappointed with it for not meeting their expectations.
“Modi had promised a lot during his Lok Sabha election campaign, but during the one-year rule so far, there is a sense of disappointment among people who had expected a lot from the Prime Minister,” he said.
Referring to Karnataka, Gowda slammed the ruling Congress for creating obstacles to conduct Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike polls, before the Supreme Court ordered the government to hold elections in three months.
“The Congress created obstacles…what fear they have. The party did all to postpone the elections before the Supreme Court ordered to hold the elections in three months. What was bothering the Congress to do so?” he asked.
