2 min read

The disturbing trend of abandoning children seems to be on the rise in Bihar.

Two little girls have been left to fend for themselves after their mother abandoned them at Patna Junction on Sunday. One of them is barely one-and-a-half years old.

Eight-year-old Laxmi got the shock of her life when she woke up at the Patna Junction on Sunday morning. Her younger sister Rajendri was crying beside her but their mother was not around.

She picked up her sister and tried to look out for her mother, with whom they had alighted from a train on Saturday night.

Laxmi at first thought that their mother had gone somewhere. But as the day progressed, she grew worried and started crying.

Seeing both of them, some passengers on the platform informed the RPF personnel.

Laxmi said her father was a mason, but she was unable to tell the name of the train on which they had reached Patna.

She was also not able to give the names of her parents except for the fact that they belonged to a place called Patwari Bagh, where her father worked.

Laxmi, whose mother used to work as a maid at different places, said she had two more sisters but they were dead now.

She said her parents had a big fight the night before her mother left home with them.

The RPF and the GRP personnel tried to search her mother but could not find her.

Finally, they sent them to a child care home in Patna city.
